Welcome Page

Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Milton Beychok 21:58, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Just a bit of friendly advice

Maynard, many of us at Citizendium (CZ) are emigrees from Wikipedia and we know it takes a bit of time to get used to the differences between CZ and WP ... and they are different. For that reason, I deleted the WP categories that you placed at the bottom of your user page and reverted back to the appropriate CZ categories we provided when we created your user page for you. Please do not remove those CZ categories ... they must remain at the bottom of your user page.

I would also suggest that you remove the Template:Infobox writer and the Template:User Harvard from your user page since those templates simply don't work here in CZ. And I would further suggest that you remove the section entitled "Wikipedia Status" listing the numbers of articles you were involved with at WP. Many of us here at CZ could provide the same sort of lists ... but we don't.

The above "Citizendium Getting Started" box and the "Welcome" posting provide many links where you can get familiar with CZ. Another "learning tool" is to read and study some of our existing articles in your fields of interest.

Once more, welcome to CZ and I hope you will take to heart my friendly advice. Milton Beychok 06:16, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
