We definitely could use better content here.  I am a CZ Engineering and Computers Editor; let me know how I can help you. My engineering interests are in systems, networks and telecommunications, software and medicine/medical ((i.e., life-critical vs. death-critical).
There is something of a learning curve with our formatting and the like. One aspect unique to CZ and going beyond "see also" at Wikipedia, is our "Related Articles" subpage. At [[Mechanical engineering/Related Articles]], feel free to edit in the appropriate higher-level concepts, subtopics, etc, in the form, in edit mode, of <nowiki>{{r|concept-name}}</nowiki>.  This lets you create something of an outline and see what we already have. You can then start new articles simply as supporting definitions. As you can see, the material on that page was computer-generated.

Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Bruce M. Tindall 23:56, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

More mechanical engineering is very welcome

We definitely could use better content here. I am a CZ Engineering and Computers Editor; let me know how I can help you. My engineering interests are in systems, networks and telecommunications, software and medicine/medical ((i.e., life-critical vs. death-critical).

There is something of a learning curve with our formatting and the like. One aspect unique to CZ and going beyond "see also" at Wikipedia, is our "Related Articles" subpage. At Mechanical engineering/Related Articles, feel free to edit in the appropriate higher-level concepts, subtopics, etc, in the form, in edit mode, of {{r|concept-name}}. This lets you create something of an outline and see what we already have. You can then start new articles simply as supporting definitions. As you can see, the material on that page was computer-generated.

You might also find it useful to create what we call a "sandbox" in your user space, which is exclusively yours and closed to peer editing. Simply create User: Michael Notarangelo/Sandboxname, where sandboxname can be one or more topics useful to you. These can move to mainspace for cooperative editing, when you are ready for criticism. Good start on electric car

Since I do a certain amount of work in emergency services, I was very pleased to see that you even had a placeholder for safety. On some of my mailing lists, there is a good deal of concern for rescue crews that may have to extricate crash victims from cars with high voltage present. People are happy enough about the benefits, not electric car specific, of things such as side air bags, but get nervous about that lead azide if they have to cut through the door. Howard C.
