Hi Daniel, | |||
Thanks for your welcome to the project. I don't see the missions of the two groups as mutually exclusive. In fact, I am keeping an open mind toward Citizendium. However, publicly writing for Citizendium for a class involves a degree of compelled speech and compelled association. My comment on my user page is the simplest way to mitigate the risk of unintentionally communicating the muted anti-Wikipedia message I so frequently encounter from Citizendium writers. My extreme displeasure with Larry Sanger's recent attacks on the Wikimedia Foundation -- or Citizendium's marginalization of unpopular subjects -- is a topic more appropriate for my personal blog.
Thanks again. I'll try to make some kind of meaningful contribution while I'm here.
Best, | |||

Welcome!
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Hayford Peirce 21:31, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
name change
Hi, Yuvi, I'll try changing your name now. If there seem to be problems after that, leave a message for me on my Talk page.... Hayford Peirce 21:38, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Supporting the Wikimedia Foundation and its mission
Hi Yuvi,
the comment on your user page reads as if editing at Citizendium would be incompatible with supporting the Wikimedia Foundation and its mission. You are of course free to see it this way, but I would like to point out that (1) the missions are very similar, just the means different in some important aspects, (2) by adopting the same reuse-friendly CC license, both projects encourage reuse of their respective content, including between themselves, while (3) many contributors here also did and/ or do contribute to projects of the Wikimedia Foundation.
I sincerely hope you will have an interesting time here, and in case of problems, comments or suggestions, just contact me or anyone else you see on recent changes.
Cheers, --Daniel Mietchen 09:34, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
