Rob Lantzy is a student of literature and foreign languages. His expertise, if not his curiosity, is confined to the humanities, particularly letters, history, philosophy, linguistics, and to some extent art and politics. He is also interested in evolutionary biology, and has some knowledge of that.

Within the realm of literature, he is primarily interested in short prose and novels, but has also dabbled in French, Russian, and Spanish-language poetry. He is best acquainted with the works of Jorge Luis Borges, Terry Southern, Jose Saramago, Vladimir Nabokov, Rohinton Mistry, John Banville, and Salman Rushdie, as well as Latin American literature in general.

He went to high school in Richmond, Virginia, during which he studied art, and retains some measure of competency in the subject. As of 2007, he is a literature student at George Mason University, and is also studying Russian and Spanish.
