I graduated with a BSc in Physics in 2004 and following a year of post graduate teacher training I began lecturing in Physics and Mathematics at a sixth form college in the UK. I am about to complete a Masters Degree in Education and it is my intention then to begin a PhD. My academic interests are mainly concerned with issues effecting the teaching and learning of science in the tertiary sector and the functional relationship between theoretical views on learning and effective teaching. I believe that too wide a gap exists between the rarefied concerns of some researchers and the practical needs of teachers who are trying to develop authentic evidence based methods. I’m also interested in sociologist’s and historian’s views on the nature and validity of science – although I disagree with much of what they have to say!
