Possible fodder for the Tucson article, if the claims can be substantiated

This type of ordinance is typical of the income generating psychosis this city thrives on in its death throes of staying viable - don't forget the radar vans, thet redlight cameras, or the new and improved parking garage and all thos additional metered parking spaces they created when they shut down half of the available road space a few years back!

They prefer to keep 1970's era infrastructure to give this town the 'ol' pueblo' feel, but at the same time, they encourage rampant building to attract millions of people to live here so they can have the tax base to operate with. Now that all those people are here, they have to constantly think up innovative ways of fundraising to make money so they can handle the costs of providing what little service they deem as necessary for all those hordes of new residents.

You can't go downtown for ANYTHING without being stuck paying for parking just for the priviledge of visiting or doing business in beautiful downtown Tucson. Since they already have every available spare parking space generating money - and except for the parking garage, none of them are timed long enough to cover most things you need to do in one trip!

Someone is always having to interrupt their business so they traipse back down and feed the voracious parking meter. The meter is being fed, either by you or by some humanitarian for you, so why does the City care who it is and why make it a crime if that humanitarian is not YOU?

Are they saying that you are only allowed to park at one meter location until it's original time runs out if you can't get away from your business fast enough to add more coins to it, then you have to move on so some other sucker can fork over more money?

Oh, wait! Theu've come up with another way to make money - if the meter runs out it is a $28 dollar fine, if some humanitarian does someone a favor by feeding the meter to delay it from running out, let's just hit those humanitarians with a $28 fine too! That's WAY more than we would make on that extra quarter or nickel we get from the meter!

And these bozos are amazed that nobody wants to go downtown unless they are forced to! (comment was originally posted here)
