Born in South Carolina in 1946, the younger of two boys. Father was a truck driver and mother was a waitress. Both now deceased. Graduated from high school and attended college, however did not graduate. Joined the US Navy Reserve and spent two years on active duty, including a tour off the coast of Vietnam. Returned and married high school sweetheart, living first in Long Beach, CA, and later moving to Bradenton, FL. Took a job in sales with a national auto parts company, eventually moving into sales manager and regional marketing manager. Began working with an insurance loss control firm and moved to Atlanta, GA. Divorced and remained single for four years, before marrying again to present wife. Have two childrend and two stepchildren, with four grandchildren. Self employed for thirty-five years as a loss control consultant. Have been writing most of my life and, for approximately two years, wrote a weekly newspaper column on racing.
