Alexis Hart grew up a small town in Southern Oregon. She earned her B.A. at the University of Rochester, where she majored in English and minored in Anthropology. She received her commission in the United States Navy as a Naval Supply Corps Officer and served as a division officer aboard the USS ESSEX (LHD 2) followed by a tour of duty as an instructor at the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia. She completed her Ph.D. in English with an emphasis on Rhetoric and Composition at the University of Georgia and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of English and Fine Arts at the Virginia Military Institute.
