I am a conservation scientist studying, and attempting to solve, the challenges of saving global biological diversity. My Ph.D. is in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Tennessee. Most of my research is to understand patterns of biodiversity and how society might protect that biodiversity. I have worked in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest for nearly a decade, both as a researcher and conservationist. In Everglades National Park, I have been involved in a continuing research program for 9 years to study and protect the Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow. I also have extensive experience in satellite image analysis and spatial modeling of habitats for endangered species. Currently I am an Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Maryland, College Park.
