Talk:Archive:Should we use GFDL or CC-by-sa for CZ-originated articles?

I vote GFDL. We'll be able to release asap. It will be simple. People know about it already. You won't have to reeducate the public about it. You don't want to discourage the people who are "on the fence" about joining CZ to say, "eh, new license that I don't really care to learn about, I'll stick with WP." You want them to come to CZ because our process and community is better. We need to release to the public with a simple license. Having 1 license (GFDL) seems like an obvious choice to me. -Tom Kelly (Talk) 21:59, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

Of course GFDL is the way to go. Citizendium's main purpose is to prove that they have a better system than Wikipedia. Let people focus on that, rather than worrying that Wikipedia may borrow some material. That is, the best scenario is to have two projects with different rules and ideology but which are still able to share content. Oleg Alexandrov 23:30, 31 March 2007 (CDT)

If it's all so obvious to you, you should be able to summarize some great arguments on the main page here, eh? --Larry Sanger 20:47, 1 April 2007 (CDT)

Can you, please, summarize the arguments according to the model found here?--CZ:Should we permit or disallow commercial use of CZ-originated articles? Thanks. This helps me, if no one else... And please, consolidate arguments. Remember, quality, not quantity, of argumentation is what wins the day. --Larry Sanger 23:58, 2 April 2007 (CDT)

I oppose the use of GFDL on Citizendium and I think Creative Commons is better, because we need to differentiate our project from Wikipedia, so we can completely eliminate the Wikipedia remnant on Citizendium. I'm not saying Wikipedia is bad or anything, it's just that we can't create two indistinguishable projects, which would be redundancy. Yi Zhe Wu 21:09, 16 April 2007 (CDT)
