The Republic of Cameroon is located in West/Central Africa and it shares boundaries with Chad to the north, Nigeria to the west, Central African Republic to the east, Congo, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea to the south.

It has a population of over 18 million people and sits on about 475,440 sq km of land.

Cameroon was created in 1961 by the unification of two colonies, one French and the other British. As a result, its two official languages are English and French.

Its economic development has been accelerated by the completion of an oil pipeline from Chad.
