I understand this dislike of the term '''meme'''.  I used the term to to suggest that '''NewSpace''' is much more than just the idea of '''private spaceflight''', and that it is different from government controlled space activities (even though it cannot avoid the regulatory role of government, and it does take advantage of government contributions).  The term NewSpace in the space advocate community is not a marketing term but a denotes efforts which are different from government designed and controlled programs.

Comments on removals

"NewSpace does not have a formal, or specific definition." -- Sure it does, you just gave it!  :-) That's a lot clearer than many other concepts.

I removed "meme" because I absolutely hate the word, which suggests all sorts of very controversial ideas about how ideas are propagated.

"NewSpace is a cultural idea." Not necessary to state. Any name for a movement can be said to describe "a cultural idea."

The article said, "To be considered NewSpace an effort should have at least two of following characteristics"--well, who decided that? Was it standardized somewhere somehow? I doubt it. Any such specific definition enshrines some specific person's specific ideas about what the term means as something we all will mean.

I wonder whether "NewSpace" itself is essentially a sort of industry marketing term, however. I wonder if the bulk of the information about private spaceflight should live at something less apt to hype--such as private spaceflight.
