As defined in Medical Subject Headings, musculoskeletal manipulations encompass a range of manipulations of body tissues, muscles and bones by hands or equipment to improve health and circulation, relieve fatigue, or promote healing. The manipulation must involve actual movement of body parts, so does not include energy medicine or mind-body therapies such as therapeutic touch or reiki.
