The FIFA World Cup, also called the Football World Cup and usually abbreviated to simply the World Cup is a tournament held every four years under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the governing body. It was known as the Jules Rimet Trophy until 1974, when the name was changed. The competition has been held every four years since 1930, with the exception of 1942 and 1946, when it was not held due to the Second World War. It is the most widely-viewed sporting event on television.

The 2010 World Cup was contested in South Africa; the finals was held on Sunday 11th July 2010 between The Netherlands and Spain and won by Spain 1-0 after Andrés Iniesta scored in the 116th minute.

The 2014 World Cup will be held in Brazil.
