The Deutsche Mark, in English usually 'deutschmark' (IPA BrE /'dɔɪtʃmɑːk/) or simply 'mark', was the currency of Germany from 1948 until it adopted the euro in 2001. One mark (in German capitalised: Mark) was divided into 100 pfennigs (Pfennige, singular Pfennig).
