Early in the campaign planning, he listened to the air campaign plan proposal from COL [[John  Warden III]], found good insights in it, but found he could not work personally with Warden. He did keep one of Warden's planners, then-lieutenant colonel [[David Deptula]], who is now the three-star head of Air Force Intelligence.
