I am an adult educationalist at a U.S. community college and hold an M.Ed. from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Prior, I graduated highest-awarded in my class from Florida Atlantic University Honors College. I have numerous years international experience, dispersed through Latin America, Micronesia, and Haiti. It has marked all I do. My pedagogy is eclectic yet with a strong bent for critical literacy. Ira Shor, perfectly defines critical literacy as facilitating
habits of thought, reading, writing, and speaking which go beneath surface meaning, first impressions, dominant myths, official pronouncements, traditional cliches, received wisdom, and mere opinions, to understand the deep meaning, root causes, social context, ideology, and personal consequences of any action, event, object, process, organization, experience, text, subject matter, policy, mass media, or discourse.[1]
I plan doctoral studies and have very broad interests. Peter Cook once said, "I am specializing in the Universe and all that surrounds it."
