Algosoo was the name of several vessels built by Algoma Central.[1] The second Algosoo, commissioned in late 1974, was the last lake freighter built in the traditional design, where the bridge topped a superstructure right in the ship's bows, and a second superstructure topped her engines, right in the stern.

In 1986 there was a serious fire on the Algosoo, which cause $16 million damage.[2]

She was scrapped, in Port Colborne, in 2016.[1] The Algoma Sault, completed in China, in 2018, has been described as the third vessel named after Sault Sainte Marie.[3]
