Sickle cell anemia is "A disease characterized by chronic hemolytic anemia, episodic painful crises, and pathologic involvement of many organs. It is the clinical expression of homozygosity for hemoglobin S."[1]

Acute chest syndrome was be caused by thrombosis.[2]
