Paul Teller has been Executive Director of the Republican Study Committee since 2009, rising from Legislative Director (2001-2007) and Deputy Director (2007). Previously, he was on the staff of the Committee on House Administration (2000-2001).
His undergraduate studies at Duke University were in political science; he was a volunteer in George H.W. Bush's 1992 campaign. Moving to Washington, DC, as a Dean's Scholar at American University, he wrote a dissertation on “how ideological distance between U.S. senators from the same state affects representation, ” continuing to stay active in Republican politics as advertising manager for the College Republican National Federation.
