The FIFA World Cup, also called the Football World Cup and usually abbreviated to simply the World Cup is a tournament held every four years under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the governing body. The competition has been held every four years since 1930, with the exception of 1942 and 1946, when it was not held due to the Second World War. It is the most widely-viewed sporting event on television.
The current World Cup is being contested in South Africa; the finals will be held on Sunday 11th July 2010 and will be between The Netherlands and the winner of the Germany vs Spain semi-final.
The 2014 World Cup will be held in Brzil.
