Amber Rudd (born 1st August 1963) is a British politician who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hastings and Rye. She is a former member of the Conservative Party who now sits as an independent MP having resigned from the government and parliamentary party in protest against the government's policies in relation to the European Union.

Rudd had been the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions from November 2018 to September 2019. She was the Home Secretary (internal affairs minister) from July 2016 to April 2018, when she was forced to resign over her department's treatment of citizens from the West Indies who had lived in Great Britain for decades.
