FreeRice is an educational website started in October 2007 to raise money to end world hunger. There are several subjects you can choose from to answer multiple-choice questions including, English , Mathematics, Geography, Chemistry and others. Each question answered right earns the site enough money to buy 10 grains of rice to donate to end world hunger.

History

The site began in October 2007 by computer programmer John Breen. It started with only the English Vocabulary game. After a while, many other games were added. The rice amount for each question answered right started at 10 then for a long time was moved to 20 and then was recently moved back to 10.

Game

You can select a category (the original English Vocabulary game is default) and if the question is answered right, FreeRice will donate 10 grains of rice to the hungry. If answered incorrectly, no rice will be donated and an easier question will appear next.
