Chris, this is just a rough sketch. This article is going to be much larger than Leptotes as taxonomy and species are much more complicated, therefore don't loose your time correcting it as yet (unless you find anything awful, hehe). Dalton Holland Baptista 15:34, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the warning. I still have to work my way through leptotes. In general did you find those changes useful without changing the spirit of the article too much. In some places I felt i was a little too close to the wire with respect to changing the meaning. I see you made one correction already, which is good. Last night I was thinking a floral diagram might be useful, do you have one? If not I could draw one based on one of your photos. I think that would help a lot with the terminology. Chris Day 15:57, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
  1. Yes Chris, I think your corrections are pretty good, feel free to correct everything your way. Despite my bad English I won't let anything less exact go thru. Actually it is fine if you cross the wire, that indicates that I have to explain better some topics as everyone should have an exact idea of what it means from the text. I am checking every change you make. It's a pity I can't make it sound normal in English, lol. It takes more than double time to write in English.
  2. I have been using this floral diagram for general purposes although I am not sure if we can use it here.
  3. I hoped there were more people working with botany in CZ, there are so many accesory articles to write about anatomy and morphology! I can provide photos of most structures as the articles are there. Dalton Holland Baptista 16:39, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
We all hope more will arrive. As to terminology, should the leptotes article use labellum instead of lip? I almost made the change and i see your diagram also uses that terminology. Chris Day 16:53, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, labellum is the 100% correct terminology, although many books informally use lip instead, more serious publications do use labellum. You know better what's should be more adequate to CZ, please, pick one and we will go on with that. In Portuguese articles I do use labelo also because there is no other word for that. BTW can you look at Leptotes biblio? if the way I made is too weird we can just list the books and articles instead. Yes, I know, I am disturbing your work a lot, but that is just till we set the standards to follow next articles. I really appreciate all this support. Thanks a lot, Dalton Holland Baptista 17:36, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

intro

Looking at the intro there are three things i find confusing and would like to clarify before starting to copyedit:

"Most of the species are strong plants"

I'm not sure what you mean by strong here.

"which presents a showy display making a very good first impression but that end disappointing because of their small flowers,"

In what sense do they make a good impression? I'm not sure I understand the orchid terminology here. Previously i though first impression was related to the flowers but here it seems to be something distinct to the flowers?

"because they are highly variable and very similar to each other"

This seems to be contradictory, how can they be highly variable and yet very similar. Even in the context of the sentence I cannot quite figure this out. Chris Day 16:05, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Is it any better now? Dalton Holland Baptista 16:43, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Regarding the first impression: yes, when you first see them they look robust plants and with a large and glossy foliage but they do not seem to be in bloom at all. Then, when you look for the flowers, you realize they actually do are in bloom so you get very disappointed that so robust plant just produce that tiny flowers which, moreover, are hidden among the foliage. Please feel free to change the sentences to make more sense wherever you think it should. Dalton Holland Baptista 16:49, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Wait till my gay friends hear about this!

Rank discrimination is what I would call it! Where are the fleets of gaytaxis and TGtaxis? Someone is gonna file a complain, that you can be sure of! Hayford Peirce 22:06, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

You still have friends?!Aleta Curry 22:09, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Although I don't like the idea of a public conveyance discriminating on gender preference, my initial reaction was that the title violated CZ conventions on use of the plural. Howard C. Berkowitz 22:28, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Well, drinkin' mytes at the local, all of them big, brawny, tattooed, tough, a gay as lavender. Of course, they all show up on their Harleys, so they ain't reely lookin' fer taxis, I s'pose.... Hayford Peirce 22:30, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
