Otto (27 Apr, 1848, Munich - 11 Oct, 1916) was the fifth King of Bavaria. Otto was the youngest son of King Maximillian II. He became King of Bavaria in 1886 after the untimely death of his older brother, King Ludwig II. Otto had exhibited signs of mental illness through much of his life, and had been imprisoned in a family estate since 27 May, 1875. His uncle, Prince Luitpold, ruled in his stead as Prince Regent. Otto never married and had no children.
