Civic culture

Civic culture refers to the political and social attitudes, values and public opinions underlying democratic government. The concept was first introduced by U.S. political scientists Gabriel Almond and Sidney Verba in the late 1950's in a study of democracy in England, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and the United States, </ref> [Almond & Verba, 1963] and updated in their The Civic Culture Revisited </ref> [Almond & Verba, 1989] , the concept is closely aligned with civil society.
