April 16th, 2008: I am ceasing my contributions to Citizendium for the time being. I have tried in several contexts to get usability taken seriously here and utterly failed. I strongly believed that this was the best hope for taking on Wikipedia, but if CZ wants to shoot itself in the foot on something this basic, I don't see any reason to keep trying to contribute content. Moreover, if I can't manage to accomplish anything in an area where I actually have some expertise, what business do I have working on anything else?

The photo gallery is still available for use wherever it may be helpful. And if attitudes change about usability, could someone please drop me a line? Because in that case, I will be happy to come back and start writing again.

Formal education

BS in Computer Science, Portland State University, with a minor in geology.

Major defineable interests

Languages; interaction between humans and machines; science fiction/fantasy and its community; geology and paleontology; cognitive and situational psychology; history outside of Western civilization. (Nothing against Western civilization, it's just that I get bored hearing about the same stuff over and over again.)

Other interests

Peter Cook put it best: "I am specializing in the Universe and all that surrounds it."
