Algonova is double-hulled tanker built for Algoma Tankers Limited, a subsidiary of Algoma Central.[1][2]

The new tanker was ordered in June 2007 from the Eregli Shipyard in Turkey she replaced a single-hulled tanker of the same name that had been sold in January 2007.[3]

Classified by Lloyd's Register, the Algonova is built to Finnish-Swedish ice class 1A[4] and continues to deliver oil on the Great Lakes during the winter months.[2][5]
