De Lijn (meaning "the line" in Dutch) is a public transport company in Flanders (Dutch-speaking part of Belgium). De Lijn was founded in 1991, when the nation-wide public transport company Nationale Maatschappij van Buurtspoorwegen, NMVB (Dutch name)/ Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Vicinaux, SNCV (French name) was split in two parts as a part of country federalisation programme. Thus the Dutch part became De Lijn and Wallon part became TEC.

The munitipal public transport companys MIVA (Antwerp) and MIVG (Ghent) were merged with newely-formed De Lijn.

As in 2008, De Lijn services include:

  • City and suburban bus services in whole Flanders
  • "Belbus" request minibus service in low population dencity areas
  • Tram/light rail in Antwerp, Ghent and Flemish coast.
