Company Operating Segments
Commercial Airplanes (CA)
A core company business has always been commercial aviation, beginning with the first all-metal commercial transport, the Boeing 247, in 1933. While Douglas and Lockheed -- firms later acquired by Boeing -- were strong domestic competitors, the Boeing 707 was the first commercially successful jet airliner and the Boeing 747 the first wide-body airliner dominated their fields.
Today, the company produces advanced models of its Boeing 727 and Boeing 747, as well as the newer Boeing 757 and Boeing 767 (very similar aircraft optimized for different ranges), Boeing 777, and, in advanced development, Boeing 787.
