User:Emanuele Ripamonti
My name is Emanuele Ripamonti, and I was born on July 4th, 1970 in Vimercate, Italy. I am italian and my mother tongue language is italian (so, sorry for any mistake..)
I am an astronomer: - in 1998 I received a Laurea degree (roughly comparable to a Master) in
Physics from the Universita' degli Studi di Milano, with a thesis about "Chemical abundances in extragalactic HII regions")
- in 2002 I received a Ph.D. in Astronomy, again from the Universita'
degli Studi di Milano, with a thesis about "Protostellar collapse in Population III objects" (see http://www.astro.rug.nl/~ripa/files/phd_th_ripa.pdf )
- from 2002 to 2004 I was an astronomy postdoc at the Pennsylvania State
University, and I lived in State College, Pennsylvania.
- since 2004 I am an astronomy postdoc at the Kapteyn Astronomical
Institute of the University of Groningen, in the Netherlands
My professional interests are about theoretical cosmology and in particular the so-called "dark ages". Most of my work is about numerical simulations of the formation of the first luminous objects in the universe, although I am also interested in slightly different subjects such as the formation of dwarf galaxies. A publication list of mine can be accessed through http://arxiv.org/find/astro-ph/1/au:+Ripamonti_E/0/1/0/all/0/1 or http://adsabs.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/nph-abs_connect?sim_query=YES&aut_xct=NO&aut_logic=OR&obj_logic=OR&author=Ripamonti%2C+E.&object=&start_mon=&start_year=&end_mon=&end_year=

Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start, and see Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, our help system and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any user or the editors for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Fred Salsbury 06:28, 24 January 2007 (CST)
