Greetings! I have been at Citizendium since the pilot began. I hold the roles of Assistant to the Chief Constable, author, and informally Media Assets Lead.
About me
I am an adult educationalist at a community college in the United States where I focus on remediation. I hold an M.Ed. from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Prior, I graduated highest-awarded in my class from Florida Atlantic University Honors College. I have numerous years international experience, dispersed through Latin America, Micronesia, and Haiti, and it has marked all I do. My pedagogy is eclectic yet with a strong bent for critical literacy. Ira Shor, perfectly defines critical literacy as facilitating
habits of thought, reading, writing, and speaking which go beneath surface meaning, first impressions, dominant myths, official pronouncements, traditional cliches, received wisdom, and mere opinions, to understand the deep meaning, root causes, social context, ideology, and personal consequences of any action, event, object, process, organization, experience, text, subject matter, policy, mass media, or discourse.[1]
I plan doctoral studies and have very broad interests. Peter Cook once said, "I am specializing in the Universe and all that surrounds it."
For recreation I greatly enjoy fishing, the outdoors generally, and science fiction.
Contributions
Most of my contributions are in some way or another related to developing Citizendium. I just don't have time very often to really bunker down and write articles—I am here, first, to help you write them. Still, I am a major contributor to:
If I show up at an article you've been working on and decide to become substantially involved with it as an author, know that I am a perfectionist and am envisioning the day when our approved articles are independently evaluated side-by-side with Britannica's and Wikipedia's.
Everything else that follows is to help me do my work on the wiki!
