Boris Johnson (born 19 June 1964 in New York City) is the current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, appointed by Queen Elizabeth II on 24 July 2019 following the resignation of Theresa May. He is the 55th person to hold the office of Prime Minister. Johnson has not won a general election; he succeeded May as the new leader of the Conservative Party which formed the government at that time.
