I have worked in the Computer science arena for twenty years. My expertise is across several realms; Programming, Database Administration, System Administration, Data Analysis/metrics and web-based systems. My employment includes IBM, Maxtor, Micron and HP. I obtained Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science from Augustana College (Sioux Falls, SD) before they had MIS degrees. Shortly after college, I taught at a two-year or vocational college; teaching classes in WordStar, Lotus123 and dBaseIIIPlus. They were not just a bad dream. They really existed. Living in France for six months allowed me to revive significant verbal French, but my formal written training was limited to high-school. I married, moved to Colorado and worked for IBM and Maxtor; spending time overseas in Singapore and Korea. Micron prompted the move to Idaho where I gained a great deal of management experience and working with executive management. It also led to my eventual employment with HP. As a senior software engineer for the web department, and later as an Operations Lead, I learned interesting perspectives on software functionality, testing and user interfaces. My interests vary quite a bit. Tennis has been part of my life from the beginning. I have participated at many levels including being an umpire and on local organizational boards. I enjoy singing in choirs and small ensembles. Hence, I can read music and even played saxophone when I was younger. My entire family enjoys skiing. I have rated around 1500 films for NetFlix. My over-riding interest that drove this account request is that I believe that people can learn from each other. An on-line, authoritative encyclopedia with a world perspective can help change the world. Imagine if the Library at Alexandria had not been burned… Places of interest: CZ:Computers_Workgroup/Status |
