Kawir

Kawir, also called Κάβειρος [ˈkavirɔs], is a Greek black metal band, formed in 1993 and based in Athens.

Themes

Their lyrics are in Ancient or Modern Greek and their main themes concern ancient Greek mythology, especially the Kabeiroi, a group of mysterious chthonic deities. Although the band appeared during the second wave of black metal of the early 1990's, it discards the typical satanic themes of this period. On the contrary, Kawir fully participates to the last wave of black metal of the 2000's that has spread across central Europe, being interested in old, pre-Christian traditions.
