Some initial thoughts

Hmm, just some initial thoughts on this. We need to get some detail on the Treaty of Versailles, and its impact on post WWI Germany, (and also the dolchstosslegende) as causative factors here. Japanese expansionism occasioned by the failure of the British empire and British policies in the far east and China also needs to be expanded upon. Mussolini, Franco and emergent Rumanian fascism also need deep assessment as contributory factors; the significance of Stalin's pact with Hitler needs to be developed. I will weigh in as time and opportunity permit.

The subject, particularly that of story of the road to war in Europe, is not uncontroversial, and a balance will need to be achieved in this area. Stephen John Callaway 12:28, 2 December 2007 (CST)
