Student filming boy in toilet 2019
On 2 May 2019, a Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) student Brandon Mandolang Yong Fu, was in a campus toilet when he "suddenly felt an urge to masturbate", and started looking for pornographic material on his mobile phone. When the victim entered the washroom and went into the cubicle next to him, Mandolang decided to take a video of him. The victim noticed Mandolang's phone when he looked up while relieving himself. When Mandolang saw the victim looking at him, he quickly retracted his phone but stayed in the cubicle. The victim waited outside the toilet to confront Mandolang but left after 15 minutes as he was late for class. The victim made a police report that night, stating "a case of voyeurism".
Mandolang was later suspended, his scholarship has been rescinded, and removed from the executive committee position of his CCA.[3]
On 2 January 2020, Mandolang was sentenced to 15 months probation. He was also ordered to perform 100 hours of community service, and must remain indoors from 10pm to 6am every day. His father had to sign a $5000 Singapore Dollar bond to ensure his good behaviour. The District Judge Seah Chi-Ling said: "I note that you are an exemplary student in school, with a close relationship with your family."[4]
