The U.S. Mission to Iraq includes the Embassy and civilian agencies, but does not, at the present time, control Multi-National Force-Iraq, the senior US military headquarters there. The current Ambassador is Christopher R. Hill.

- John Negroponte (2004-2005)
- Zalmay Khalizad (2005-2007)
- Ryan Crocker (2007-2009)
