Revision as of 15:37, 30 November 2008

I'm a baby-boomer Canadian currently teaching English and IT subjects in China. My academic qualifications are a BA in Psychology and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, both from Carleton U in Ottawa.

I've spent two substantial chunks of my career as a teacher — 1978-83 and now 2002-2008 — mainly because that is a good way to support travel. At other times I've worked in computing, mostly as a technical writer but a bit of everything else too.

I wrote most of the documentation for the FreeS/WAN project [1], a Linux implementation of the IPsec encryption protocols. I have permission to re-use that text here User_talk:Sandy_Harris/Permission .

I'm interested in computer security and co-authored one conference paper [2] on cryptography, specifically block cipher design. I think my latest paper is fairly interesting.

I am quite active on Wikitravel, and sometimes contribute to other wikis. See my Wikitravel user page: [3].
