A constellation is a group of stars that ancient  astronomers imagined as pictures. Not all of these constellations are still used nowadays; and some are comparatively modern. Most of the present-day constellations have their origins in ancient Greek, Egyptian and Babylonic cultures. The boundaries of the constellations were fixed more and more with time. Our actual 88 constellations were defined in a decision of the IAU in the year 1925. The names of all constellations are latin words.
