I'm not sure that I like the "definition" of Mesoamerica as it now stands. The culture area also includes the Olmec (who were gone by the time of the Spanish conquest) and Huichol (who are still around but never developed centralized political control, urbanism, etc.) as well as many other similar groups. Perhaps we should rework the opening lines to include these groups?
