Mr Ibold,

My name is Joe Quick. I'm working on an article for Citizendium.org about Tecun Uman and I
was looking for photos of the Baile de la Conquista to use with that article when I came
across your site and the beautiful photo of the Tecun Uman mask that you have posted there.
I would very much like to use that photo for the article, but of course I need your
permission to do so.

If you are willing to allow the use of that image, I would need you to respond with a note
that states that you either (a) release the image into the public domain, (b) release the
photo under a free use license such as creative commons, or (c) simply give permission for
Citizendium to use the image. Any of these would be fine.

If you are interested in the article, it isn't quite finished but you can see my work here:

http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Tecum_Umam

I believe your photo would be quite valuable to that article.

Thanks for your time,

Joe Quick

Dear Joe,
You may have my permission to use the photo for your article on Tecun Uman, however I must
request that you attribute the photo to MasksoftheWorld.com in your caption. Please send me
the link when you have published.
Sincerely,
Bob Ibold

So, before I post this one, should I be doing something special with > it? This feels like a special case.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe.

These usage terms are absolutely unacceptable per our no advertising policy. We may credit
the image on the article page to Bob Ibold, the author of the image. We may, however,
include a link on the image page pointing to its original location,
http://www.masksoftheworld.com/Guatemala/Guatemalan%20Tecun%20Uman%20Mask.htm

You may forward this to Mr. Ibold along with my thanks.

Mr. Ibold,

Thanks very much for your quick reply.

Since I hadn't come across a case quite like this before, I sent a note to one of the
constables (moderators) at Citizendium to ask how it should be handled. The message below
is his reply. The "image page" that Mr. Ewen is referring to is a page devoted specifically
to the image that gives fuller details about its content, source, etc.

Would you be willing to agree to the conditions that Mr. Ewen described? I really want to
make this work if I can.

Thanks again,
Joe Quick

Joe,

Yes, I will agree to Mr. Ewen's conditions. I try to be flexible, uncomplicated... and to
maintain some sense of humor.
