Omar Khayyam (Persian language: عمر خیام) born on May 31st, 1048 AD in what is modern day Niashpur, Iran, and died on December 4th, 1131.
He was a famous mathematician and astronomer of the Islamic world, making significant discoveries in both fields but primarily in Algebra and in discovering the Solar Year. However he is most famous for his poetry as compiled in the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
