Developed by the U.S. Army from the unarmored chassis of a M113 armored personnel carrier, the M548 cargo carrier is a multipurpose vehicle used for troop and supply transport in rough terrain, as well as minelaying. To lay mines, the VOLCANO mechanical emplacement system is placed in the truck bed.
