On Liberty is about libertarianism, which perhaps Mill originated: the belief that people should be allowed to do anything that doesn't infringe others' rights. Liberalism is something different: the idea that concentrations of power are a bad thing. Peter Jackson 11:56, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Unacceptably opinionated

Large tracts of this article are unsupported expressions of their author's opinion, and are therefore out of place in a CZ article. I propose delete them and present in their place, a straightforward factual account of Mill's works. Nick Gardner 08:31, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Unqualified!!

As I was reading the autobiography of John Stuart Mill, I suddenly realised that he would not qualify as a CZ politics editor - he had not a single academic qualification! Nick Gardner 17:51, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Did you also read the date of his birth and the date of his death? That might have some bearing on the matter. Hayford Peirce 17:56, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
