Work: I have worked in the IT industry since 1982 and have gained a significant reputation within the information security field in Australia. I have spoken at over 60 conferences on topics relating to information security and have been quoted in a number of newspapers and magazines on the subject. Since 1999 I have been responsible for information security in large corporate organisations (Optus, AMP, JP Morgan), managing teams and working through outsource and vendor partners to ensure appropriate information security for the organisation. Prior to that I worked for 12 years at Softway, doing programming (including a lot of Unix kernel work), development of training material and consulting across a wide range of government and industry sectors. | Work: I have worked in the IT industry since 1982 and have gained a significant reputation within the information security field in Australia.
Education: I was dux of my high school (1978) and have a BSc (hons) from UNSW (1982) in Computer Science. Industry qualifications include CISSP and CISM.
Interests: I enjoy playing Go and scuba diving, and reading science fiction literature and current science articles. I strongly support skepticism, critical thinking and logical, rational argument.
