Young earth creationism is a theory regarding the origin of earth and organisms. Young earth creationism accepts the general principle of Biblical creationism, that God created the earth and organisms, according to the book of Genesis in the Bible. Its distinctive belief, however, is that the Young earth creationism interprets the Biblical chronology as that the earth is only approximately 6000 years old. Young earth creationism is often associated with Christian fundamentalism.
