The pound is the official currency of the British colony of Gibraltar. It is tied to the pound sterling at a ratio of 1 Gibraltarian pound to 1 pound sterling. Like the pound sterling, the pound sign is used with the letter 'G' placed in front to distinguish it from other currencies called the pound, e.g. G£20. It is also divided into 100 pence.
