Prince Takahito of Mikasa, commonly known as Prince Mikasa (December 2, 1915 - October 27, 2016), was the uncle of the Japanese Head of State, Emperor Akihito, and the younger brother of Emperor Hirohito.
He was a military and Staff College graduate with an interest in aviation, and was both patron and protégé of Colonel Masanobu Tsuji.
It is known that he met with some of the final rebels against the surrender of Japan, but it is not clear if he was an Imperial emissary or whether his role was one of information-gathering, discouragement or encouragement.
