::I'm going to edit the main article to indicate that mechanically projected grenades move at low speed compared with a bullet.  Perhaps I can follow up on your note; I've also seen notes in military journal about the weapon's deployment into Afghanistan. I think it's apocryphal, but the tale is told of a grandmotherly type in a rough part of Manhattan, who grew tired of resisting purse snatchers. Where does this fit

Sounds like the something-or-other 25, which used to be the OICW. The line between grenades and small-caliber explosive projectiles is getting very fine. I'd say that if the projectile travels at reasonably high velocity, it's no longer a grenade.
